a sight for sore eyes, what could I do?
a shadow walking, a memory of you
both sides of a coin, broken in two
left to rust, alone with you
we were there but you weren’t with me
seldom searching on a new sea
for a new home to be
maybe it wasn’t meant to be?
a cabin in this sea was where it was
the bond we shared is long gone
not only did you twist it but
tore it in two and left me worn
the reflection of your hair caught me by surprise
warm and welcoming by sunrise
if only it were as I thought
in the end it was all for naught
and when you talked you only shouted
your voice was coarse, your tone was low
there was something odd about the way it mattered
never even affecting you
sunset marks your shadow’s end
with it gone the rain left too
but the clouds never fully parted
my soul left to rend
